Portable LP Tank & Tankless Water Heater I would like to add a tankless water heater to my hangar for hand washing and cleaning parts etc. I'm off the grid and have no services whatsoever except for water. Here's the question: Is it a good idea to consider using a portable propane tank and a small tankless water heater? I'm not familiar with the fuel consumption of the small tankless water heaters and don't know if the proposed idea... |

No Power To Thermostat Bought a new house...cleaning up excess vegetation in yard and noticed vines up the evaporator coil. Forgot to turn off breaker, but pulled out fuse and put it in upside down to "off" position. GENTLY poured water from hose over coils for at least 30 minutes to remove thick matting of cat fur/dirt combo. coils looked much cleaner, so i closed everthing back up and left the fuse off and i let dr... |

Help - Ice On Interior Wall Last night while trying to find a draft making my bedroom floor cold, I moved a storage bin & found I had ice/frost at the bottom of one of my walls. Temps have been between 0 and -15 F for the last week. The wall faces north. The house was built in 1952, so I know the insulation isn't great - but inside ice??? I need to do something to get through the winter. I'm thinking about installing... |

Water In New Dirt Crawlspace We poured a 4' foundation with a dirt crawlspace in July for a 20' x 28' addition on the back of our house. Was going to put in a perimeter drain, but the inspector said it wasn't necessary because the ground perks so well. We've never had a water problem in our existing crawlspace, either. I didn't put gutters on until about a week ago when I found a couple inches of water under the vapor ba... |

Can I Set Back The Domestic Hot Water? Hi, all, I am a newbie on DIY and a new homeowner. My question is there any way to disable the heating of the domestic hot water at times of the day when there is nobody home to use it? Or overnight when everybody is asleep and nobody needs hot water? If I am able to independently switch off the domestic hot water, will that save any oil? Here is a description of my system. Weil McLain... |

7" Wide Brazilian Cherry Challenges? I am getting 3/4" solid 7" wide brazilian cherry flooring. to be installed over above grade plywood subfloor, pneumatic nailer. I have installed 3" and 5" products in the past. Are there any special challenges with the 7"? Will it be harder to work with/straighten? I would think that the wider it is, the nicer it will look, but I remember reading that wide planks are harder to work with. ... |

Should I Tile The Ceiling In My Shower? I have low ceilings in my basement bathroom. The fan is just outside the shower. Currently the ceiling drywall in the shower is the same as the rest of the bathroom (i.e. not greenboard). Knowing that the direct water will be minimal, but will be mostly steam and spray, I am trying to decide between the following: A) Leave as is as. B) Coat with RedGaurd and repaint (maybe with water resite... |
